What the first ones said

What the first ones said Alexandre Camacho, 1st place "I have the feeling of mission accomplished, with perseverance and resilience. We are very happy for this victory and to be the first to win this competition five times. In this rally I never thought about the championship, our big goal was really the triumph." Miguel Nunes, 2nd place "This result feels good although I could never imagine that this position could make me satisfied. We had a difficult first day and we are happy with what we achieved today as we won all the special stages of the day. Furthermore, we didn't lose to our opponents in championship points and this is an important step towards revalidating the title." José Pedro Fontes, 3rd place "It ended up being a satisfactory result despite this not being our goal. We regret the withdrawal of Bruno Magalhães, with whom we were fighting the victory for the national championship. Victory in the CPR and a place on the podium always feels good. Armindo Araújo, 4th place "The absolute fourth place, second for the CPR, makes us happy because it also allows us to be closer to our goal for the season, the national title. We already knew that it would be very difficult to fight for the absolute victory, which was at the mercy of the Madeirans. It was a great rally". Bernardo Sousa, 5th place "All good. We worked hard for the future, we know our virtues and weaknesses and where we must improve. We rode around 200 kilometres in competition and this will allow us to improve even more for the remaining National Championship."

João Silva mastered the two-wheel drive

João Silva, 12th in the overall classification, mastered the Rali Vinho da Madeira, as far as two-wheel drive cars were concerned. In his debut with Peugeot 208 Rally4, the driver quickly placed himself in the front and soon separated from Rui J. Fernandes, in Renault Clio R3T, and from Vítor Sá, with Citroën DS3 R3T, who were fighting for the next positions. With the abandonment of Fernandes, Sá stayed quiet in the second position of the category and left the way open for Miguel Caires to reach the podium in his Renault Clio Rally4.

Alexandre Camacho sets a record in the Rali Vinho da Madeira

Alexandre Camacho became the only driver to have won the Rali Vinho da Madeira on five occasions. The driver of the Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo had been in the lead of the classification during most of the first stage, but he lost that position at the end of Friday, due to the difficult weather conditions of the last special section of that day. He regained the lead almost halfway through the second stage and never lost it again. Leader at the end of the first two days of the competition, Bruno Magalhães gave up on Saturday with a mechanical failure. Such abandonment allowed Miguel Nunes, very fast in the second stage, in which he was the best in all the special stages, to rise even faster to the second place in which he crossed the finish line. Also very fast since the end of the first stage, José Pedro Fontes and his Citroën C3 Rally2 occupied the lowest place on the podium, which was equivalent to a victory in the National Championship.

Communication

In the final Special Stage 17 - Rosário 2, an accident occurred, forcing the interruption of the stage. Unexpectedly, a young spectator crossed the road on foot, having been hit by the competitor no. 57. The first aid was made immediately by the EMIR team that was near the place, that after stabilizing the young girl, went on the ambulance until the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, where a team was already ready and waiting for her. I await the development of the medical situation.

Alexandre Camacho is the winner of the Rali Vinho da Madeira

Alexandre Camacho, in a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, is the winner of the 63rd edition of the Rali Vinho da Madeira and becomes the first driver to achieve five triumphs in the competition organized since 1959 by the Club Sports da Madeira. In second position, Miguel Nunes, in an identical vehicle, performed the second special stage on the attack, won all the special stages of the last day and was 11.5 seconds behind the winner. The lowest place on the podium went to José Pedro Fontes in Citroën C3 Rally2, who benefited from the withdraw, due to a breakdown of the race leader this morning, Bruno Magalhães with Hyundai i20N Rally2.

All the same in the remaining categories

In the classification reserved for users of two-wheel drive vehicles, the situation remained the same as at the end of the first special stage, with João Silva leading the way in his Peugeot 208 Rally4, his debut in this Rali Vinho da Madeira. The remaining places on the podium were Vítor Sá in Citroën DS3 R3T and Miguel Caires with Renault Clio Rally4. In what concerns the Regional Championship of this motorsports, the two first places are still held by Alexandre Camacho and Miguel Nunes but the lowest position of the podium is now occupied by Gil Freitas in Hyundai i20 R5, who benefited from the abandonment of Filipe Freitas in Porsche 991 GT3 due to mechanical issues. The top five finishers are José Camacho in Peugeot 208 T16 and João Silva, the leader in two-wheel drive.
