Miguel Nunes is the leader of the Rally, but Alexandre Camacho is closer

Being the fastest driver in both Special Stages this afternoon, Alexandre Camacho has shortened his standing to Miguel Nunes, the driver who has the leadership of Rali Vinho Madeira, with a head start of 14,7 seconds for his follower. Bruno Magalhães is third, who is now the best competitor in the Portuguese Rally Championship. The Spanish Jan Solans, racing his first Rali Vinho da Madeira is now fourth, 6,5 seconds of the podium. Ricardo Teodósio had a bad start this afternoon and is now the seventh, right behind Armindo Araújo and José Pedro Fontes. Bernardo Sousa holds his eight place and Pedro Paixão is now the ninth, after having lost time in the morning with a tyre punctured.

Rui J. Fernandes and João Silva leading

Rui Jorge Fernandes, in a Renault Clio R3T, and João Silva, in the national debut of the Renault Clio Rally4, are leading in Rali Vinho da Madeira. These drivers are ahead in the standings for the two-wheel drive and have mastered their groups, respectively, RC3 and RC4. Filipe Freitas is the leader of the RGT group, where three competitors race with a Porsche 993 GT3, after a morning where the drawbacks in controlling the power of the German car in slippery roads were clear. Ricardo Gonçalves, with a Renault Clio Rally5, is isolated in the RC5 group, but has been improving his standing as he is getting used to his car, which he is driving for the first time in this competition, organized by Club Sports da Madeira. During the first stage, four drivers, Francisco Santana Castro, José Jarimba, Gil Freitas and Américo Gouveia, withdrew from the competition, due to mechanical issues.

Miguel Nunes stands out in Rali Vinho da Madeira

Winner of the four special stages already competed, Miguel Nunes is alone in the leadership of Rali Vinho da Madeira, from the first special stages of Campo de Golfe, Palheiro Ferreiro, Boaventura and Santana. The Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo driver has a head start of 18,3 seconds gap of the second standing, Alexandre Camacho, who wasn’t lucky with the special stages of wet and dry routes, as well as the fog.  In the third position is Ricardo Teodósio, also the third in the Portuguese Rally Championship, who didn’t have a good start in the morning, but ended up regaining the position he is now. The driver from Algarve is followed by Bruno Magalhães, 2,1 seconds very effective with his Hyundai i20 R5. The Spanish Jan Solans, fifth, had a few drawbacks with the Special Stage in Campo de Golfe, however, he has been improving and is now the second fastest driver in Boaventura. Armindo Araújo has a reversed performance, as he started off quite well, but had a few drawbacks during the end of the morning.  Standing out is Bernardo Sousa who, with a Skoda Fabia R5, was in eleventh position in the starting stage, nevertheless, the improvement of his performance allowed him to become the eighth in the second passage through the assistance park, right behind José Pedro Fontes, with a Citroën C3 Rally2. The two last drivers of top 10 are Miguel Correia and Pedro Paixão, who lost a lot of time in the first stage in Santana due to a puncture in one of his Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo tyres.
