Rally Madeira Legend promotes the image of Madeira

The Protocol of Development and Cooperation in the context of Tourist Entertainment, between the Club Sports da Madeira and the Autonomous Region of Madeira was signed today. The financial compensation of 180.000€ will support the Rally Madeira Legend Organization Committee, a motorsports event that has, as its main goal, the promotion of Madeira Island.  Rally Madeira legend is on the roads on the 28th, 29th and 30th October, with 50 km in Special Stages, with the highlight for the Special Stages that will race on Friday night, between Palheiro Ferreiro and Terreiro da Luta. As for Saturday, and after the “Tour around the Island”, a special stage is scheduled, although its accomplishment will depend on the evolution of the pandemic situation in the Region. According to José Paulo Fontes, President of the Organizing Committee, this competition aims to relive the emotions of the “Tour around the Island”.  Eduardo Jesus, the Regional Secretary of the Tourism and Culture, has highlighted the importance of events such as Madeira Legend, which adds the Region in the International events’ calendar, having an outstanding promotion of Madeira Island.  

Madeira Legends- Signature of the Protocol between the Region and Club Sports da Madeira

Club Sports Madeira, the Organizing entity of Rally Madeira Legends, would like to invite your media for the signature of the Protocol of Development and Cooperation in the context of Tourist Entertainment, held with the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The signature of such document will take place in Avenida Arriaga, the headquarters of the Club Sports da Madeira, on the 25th August at 4:30 p.m. In advance grateful for your presence, The Organizing Committee    

Highlighting other drivers

Besides the drivers who stood out in the first absolute standings, many other drivers should be highlighted in the 62nd edition of Rali Vinho da Madeira. Not only the two Madeiran drivers who were fighting for the victory of the event, but also two other drivers were the leading figures of the duel for the leadership of two-wheel drive vehicles. Rui Jorge Fernandes, driving his Renault Clio R3T, ended up winning the category, nevertheless, throughout the entire competition they couldn’t stop feeling the pressure of João Silva and the debut of his Renault Clio Rally4. Right behind him, Dinarte Baptista had a very effective performance, as he was another driver to have more drawbacks in an event set by very unstable weather conditions. Many problems had the competitors of the RGT group in their powerful Porsche 997 GT3, extremely powerful in such competition. That said, highlight to the performance of Filipe Freitas who, slowly regaining his positions, still managed to be in the top ten of absolute standings. Very cherished by the spectators due to their performance were Cláudio Nóbrega in his Datsun 1.200 and Miguel Gouveia with a BMW E36 320i.

How were the results of the Portuguese Rallies Championship?

Absolute standing in the second place of Rali Vinho da Madeira, Bruno Magalhães was the winner of the event regarding the Portuguese rallies championship. With his first victory of the year, the driver of Hyundai i20 R5 regained part of his disadvantage in the competition. Second in the Island, José Pedro Fontes also achieved the most important outcome of the year, with his Citroën C3 Rally2. Third in the national position, was Bernardo Sousa, author of a good performance, with the least recent Skoda Fabia R5 and got closer to several drivers who have preceded him in the transitory standing of the championship. Fourth among the Portuguese Rallies Championship drivers, Ricardo Teodósio in his Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo had a competition with many drawbacks, nevertheless, his outcome allowed him to shorten the difference for the leadership of the championship. As a leader is still Armindo Araújo, fifth among the national drivers, after a rally set by the lost time with a spin or a punctured tyre. Miguel Correia was the sixth and has now a similar position in the championship with his Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo.  Right behind him in the competition organized by Club Sports da Madeira, Paulo Neto has a similar position in the competition promoted by FPAK. How were the results of the Ralis Coral da Madeira Championship?

As for the Rali Coral da Madeira Championship, Alexandre Camacho, is the absolute winner of the event, as he was also the best in the local championship. As for the regional competition, Camacho was followed by Pedro Paixão who, with this result, becomes the second in a championship where Miguel Nunes reaches the lowest position of the temporary podium. Third in the Madeiran competition, with a Porsche 997 GT3 Filipe Freitas regained some disadvantage of the initial board. The fourth amonst the Madeiran drivers, Rui Jorge Fernandes has once again a good outcome and has the same position in the competition homologated by FPAK. The fifth local driver, João Silva, had his first points and José Camacho, sixth, became the fifth in the championship. As for the seventh Madeiran driver in the debut of his Ford Fiesta R5 MkII, Rui Pinto is now lower in the standings, ahead of Dinarte Baptsita, eighth in both the championship and the season, with a Renault Clio R3.
